Dream House Family for Keeps® Transition Care Program Basic Caregiver Course is suitable for everyone who cares for a child with chronic, complex health care needs. This two-day, basic introductory course provides an invaluable hands-on learning experience. Whether you are a first-time parent, about to adopt your first medically fragile child, or an experienced foster parent, you will benefit from this program. Download Brochure.

Others in the community who interact with a medically fragile child will also benefit from this course: Case Managers, Social Workers, School Teachers, Day Care Staff, Respite Care Providers

Parenting a Special Healthcare Needs Child
Covered in the first part of this class are the resources available to families with medically fragile children, including a unique support group called a "Circle of Support."

Skills Lab - Hands on Training Experience
Licensed Professionals will instruct participants on a variety of skills that are needed to care for medically fragile children. Participants may practice at their own pace, and receive professional feedback regarding demonstration of proper technique.

After completion of the Basic Skills Education and Training, you are eligible to take an Advanced Skills Training workshop or participate in the Professional course designed to help non-medical professionals.

Register no later than one week prior to Day 1 of the Basic Caregiver two-day course you wish to attend.

DOCUMENTATION:

Upon successful completion of the two-part Family for Keeps® Basic Caregiver Course, participants will be awarded a certificate for 13 hours of training.
