Biological, adoptive or foster families, caring for a medically fragile child or children, are elibigle for assistance via the Dream House Family for Keeps™ - Bridging the Gap Program. The child(ren) must be newborn to 19 years old, live in Georgia, and have a diagnosis consistent with the definition of medically fragile.

The home modifications, durable medical equipment, therapies and other health care supplies that insurance doesn't cover are still unquestionably necessary for a medically fragile child to live safely at home with their family.

Dream House accepts financial donations (in whole or part) to help fund active cases. Because the need is unique to a child's diagnosis and recommendations from the multidisciplinary clinical team, financial gifts enable Dream House work as a liaison to help families source the best solution to their child's need. Thank you so very much for helping prepare a home these children!

As of March 31, 2008 Dream House has 28 open cases with requests totaling more than $105,000. Contact us to learn about other Bridging the Gap current needs. We have a waiting list. You may designate a specific case number below or make a gift to support an item on the Dream House Wish List - Prepare a Home.

Dear Dream House,

I wanted to tell you thank you so much for helping with your generous donation for Sophie Grace. Your donation will allow Sophie to get a mouth stick and still receive occupational and physical therapy.

Sophie was born with a rare condition called Arthrogryposis. Her diagnosis was very bleak as the doctors said she would be still born or not live very long. The night she was born, the odds were already stacked against her. She was three months early, not breathing, and could not move without extreme pain. The doctors said she would not make it through the night.

I would like to fast forward to today. Sophie is a vibrant three-year-old toddler who has proven all her doctors wrong. She cannot move her arms or legs, but nothing stops her. She crawls using her head to pull her and her knees to scoot around. She rolls to anything she wants. She paints, draws and colors with her mouth and toes. She has a vocabulary of a five-year-old. She is also counting in Spanish and German.

Sophie is such a fighter and an inspiration to anyone who has met her. I cannot thank you enough for your donation. I hope one day you can meet Sophie and see what an amazing child she is.

Sincerely, Amy (mother)
