February 3, 2010
Dear Friend of Dream House,
Again, I am asking for your assistance in a time sensitive matter of great importance.
I am sharing a letter that you can use to contact legislative members of the Georgia House Committee on Children & Youth by Monday, February 8, 2010 to ask for their support of Georgia House Bill 922.
Letters you sent in November to key State officials and administrators brought to light philosophical differences in interpretation of the new Georgia state law that created the Children's Transition Care Centers (CTCC) licensure.
Your actions have pushed this initiative forward.
In the 2010 legislative session, Representative Clay Cox (Georgia District 102) and Representative Melvin Everson (Georgia District 106) introduced new legislation to amend the reimbursement structure for the State Medicaid Program to include CTCC under Georgia's Medicaid Plan for children.
Passage of this bill will allow Medicaid to reimburse for skilled nursing in a CTCC facility. CTCCs need reimbursement for skilled nursing care provided to safely and effectively care for children with complex health issues.
Together, we are advocates for Georgia's medically fragile children...many of whom are foster children and covered by Medicaid as their sole source of health insurance.
