VOLUME 8: ISSUE 4
Doing Whatever It Takes,
Come What May
Meet the Wallaces, a young family devoted to giving medically fragile children hope for a better future. The following email excerpts chronicle their dedication to helping Dream House fulfill its mission...
(excerpt from July 29, 2008) We could not imagine abandoning our children for any reason whatsoever. I know there are always extenuating circumstances for some families, and I really cannot imagine how hard it must have been for many of those parents who have felt they have had no other choice but to give up their children. We want to do our part to make sure no child is abandoned and as many children as possible can receive the care they need and deserve. We are making it a point to tell our friends and family about Dream House every chance we get. We know that $30 a month just from us is not going to take care of the children, so we are going to do as much as we can to help multiply that $30 by as many families as possible. As I mentioned before, our love for children fuels our dedication to give. - The Wallaces
(excerpt from September 4, 2008) As always, God bless you all in your efforts. We are very proud to be a small part of the Dream House family. - Jeremy Wallace
(excerpt from January 29, 2009) We received our (year-end gift summary) letter today. We look forward to continuing in supporting this great cause in 2009 and beyond! Thanks and God Bless, Jeremy Wallace
(excerpt from February 5, 2009) I just wanted to give you the courtesy of letting you know that, beginning in March, we are going to have to drop our monthly donation from $30 to $10. I received news this week that, effective next week, my hours are being cut...Therefore, my wife and I are having to re-work our budget at home. Unfortunately, that means we also have to cut all of our charitable contributions by one-third. Our hope is that everything will return to normal in three to six months. When it does, we will make up for the amount we have not been able to contribute. We love the cause of Dream House, and we are looking forward to contributing to this great cause in the future. Thank you and God Bless, Jeremy Wallace
(excerpt from April 16, 2009) Since I emailed you about my income changing and having to decrease our monthly gift, my hours shot back up to where they were before...so we did not have to decrease our donation amount even once. My wife and I were ecstatic about our income stabilizing for a number of obvious reasons, but one of the biggest was that we did not have to "scale back" our charitable donations. We love that we are in a position to be able to contribute to a number of great causes that are so close to our hearts. The mission of Dream House is especially close to our hearts though. The other causes we contribute to...are champions in causes that are, for lack of a better phrase, very recognizable...We want Dream House to be THAT well-known to EVERYONE. Our introduction to Dream House came via the radio last year. As I listened, I heard about the children all of you care for and provide a home for. I went to your website, and the rest is history. Your mission is amazing, and we want to do anything we can to help it continue to grow. I am passing my (March) Silver Lining issue along to my mother and father-in-law, and I will continue to support Dream House as much as I am able. I hope we can get out to a Dream House event sometime soon as well. Thanks again, for all you do at Dream House and for being so personal with those who also have a heart for Dream House. - Jeremy Wallace
