Other Georgia families are in crisis. Learn more...

The numbers of medically fragile children are growing exponentially due to life-saving medical advances made in the last decade that now allow these precious children to survive. Before Dream House, families and communities in Georgia did not have access to a formal, community-based education or training program that prepares them to support the care of these children at home.

Our generous donors and friends have helped make the Dream House Family for Keeps™ Transition Care Program statewide resource. Since 2001, Dream House has served more than 815 families caring for over 795 medically fragile children in 37 of 159 Georgia counties.

Together, we help medically fragile children find their forever homes and family for keeps!!!

Dream House Family for Keeps™ Transition Care Program
Dream House provides programs and services for medically fragile children, their biological, adoptive and foster families, as well as others in their community (DFCS case workers, teachers, neighbors, daycare staff) who are interested or involved in the life care of these children.

  • There are three unique Dream House Family for Keeps™ – Education and Skills Training Programs (Basic,  Advanced and Professional).
Each course provides tailored classroom instruction opportunities that teach families, caregivers and case managers how to provide safe and effective care for medically fragile children at home.
  • Dream House Family for Keeps™ – Bridging the Gap Program
Dream House acts as a liaison to help families acquire home modifications, equipment and supplies to provide safe and accessible homes for their foster, adopted or biological medically fragile children.
  • Dream House Family for Keeps™ – Transition Care Program
Medically fragile children benefit from temporary, family-centered residential care while their own family members and homes are prepared to care for them. Service offerings also include Certified Life Care Planning (CLCP), care coordination, home health care, as well as respite care (in-home and out-of-home, day time and over-night).
  • Dream House Family for Keeps™ – Advocacy Program
Strives to increase public awareness of medically fragile children, their needs, and how communities can support these children and meet these needs through collaborative efforts between government agencies, businesses, civic groups and service providers.

Dream House is blazing the trail with absolutely no precedent to follow. By providing appropriate training and resources to their families, caregivers and those individuals making recommendations on their behalf, medically fragile children can successfully transition from institution to a home environment.

Successful continuation and expansion of the Dream House Family for Keeps™ Transition Care Program will further increase opportunities for Georgia’s medically fragile children to live in stable, permanent home environments with dignity and the quality of life they deserve. Learn how you can help.

Dear Dream House,
Today is a special day for us. It's our sixth anniversary and I've never been happier. Thank you, again, for all you did to help us get the bathroom. You're in our prayers always!
Yours truly,
Marilyn (mother)

Mother Thankful for Help
Dear Mrs. King - Once again I need to thank a couple of organizations and some very kind, dedicated people for their help in getting a handicap-accessible bathroom added to my home. Dream House for Medically Fragile Children for helping get everything in motion toward finding the funds so that the room could be added on rather than taking up two rooms of the existing house. To the person(s) who donated the money to Dream House who whish to remain anonymous, thank you and bless you for your compassion and generosity...thanks to people with good hearts and kind spirits who want this little girl to continue to thrive. - Marilyn
