In 2007, the Dream House Lilburn Transition Care Home completed a pilot program by providing foster care for six children and respite care for an additional six children.
This unique program has had a 100% success rate in reuniting these children with their biological families or finding adoptive homes. These first Dream House kids went home to their families healthier and happier than when they arrived at Dream House. Plus, the cost of their direct daily care was at a 50% savings over the cost of hospitalization!
This program has been in transition itself the past year as we fully implement our transition care model and expand to offer services to more children and families all over the state of Georgia. Milestones to date:
- January 2008: Dream House received a Child Caring Institution License from the State of Georgia Office of Regulatory Services for residential care of medically fragile children at the Lilburn Transition Care Home (LTCH). Dream House received a perfect inspection report with no citations or recommendations for improvements. Learn More
- March-April 2008: Dream House hired and trained Lilburn Transition Care Staff who provide direct program and service support to medically fragile children and families who care for them.
