Dream House is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization making it possible for medically complex children to live at home, instead of a hospital or nursing home.

NURTURE THE DREAM

The Dream House Story:
Pursuing the Dream…

Laura Moore visualized a different kind of life for medically fragile children. With appropriate education and skills training, families could safely and effectively care for their medically fragile children at home.

In November 2001, Laura founded The Dream House for Kids, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing resources necessary to get medically fragile children out of institutions, save them from neglectful and abusive situations, and give them the home, family and future they so desperately needed to live. The mission evolved to better address its expanded focus to create community support and partnerships. In December 2002, the organization name officially changed to Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc.

Laura Brought the DREAM to Life
While building the Dream House organization from the ground up, with no other precedent to follow, Laura and her family fostered six medically fragile children and provided respite to six more. All the while, she was proving her theory. In doing so, she put into practice the now patent-pending Family for Keeps® Transition Model of Care.

Big Dreams, Bigger Goals
Today, the Dream House organization serves Georgia's children and families at its flagship Family for Keeps® Transition Care Home in Lilburn, Georgia. Plans are underway to build the Dream House Resource Center LLC, with three additional transition care homes, a respite home and an education center.

The Family for Keeps® Education and Skills Training Program provides interactive learning experiences teaching families, care givers, social work professionals and others in the community how to safely and effectively care for medically fragile children at home.
